Planted Side Mount Seat Bracket - Mazda MX-5 Miata (NA, 1989-1997) - Driver/Left
The Planted low-profile side-mount bracket for the 1989-1997 NA Mazda Miata is built for side-mount racing seats. Its extra-low mounting point sets the seat as far back and as low as the chassis allows. Multiple mounting points let you fine-tune the seating position, which matters in a roadster where taller drivers fight for every inch of rollbar and helmet clearance.

Disclaimers:
- Seats come in many different shapes and sizes, so not all seats will fit in all vehicles. It is up to the end user to determine if the seat will fit before ordering the seat bracket and other components.
- Many vehicles have the steering wheel offset toward the center of the vehicle. This can be accentuated when installing an aftermarket seat of a different size than the factory seat.
- Replacing a factory seat with an aftermarket seat may cause the vehicle's warning indicators to activate. This can be due to airbag, weight and/or other sensors in the factory seat that are not included in an aftermarket seat. It may be possible to eliminate these indicators with an electronic resistor, but it is up to the end user to determine if a resistor will work and which resistor to use.
- Professional installation is recommended.
Headroom is the NA Miata's constant problem. Once you add a helmet and a rollbar, taller drivers run out of space fast, and a conventional bracket plus sliders stacks up height you can't afford. This Planted bracket is designed specifically for side-mount racing seats. It drops the mounting point as low and as far rearward as the NA chassis allows.
The bracket is designed around the Sparco Sprint but works with similarly sized seats, and it is not compatible with sliders. Multiple mounting points let you dial in seat height and fore-aft position to suit the driver, rather than accepting one fixed location. That's useful for Spec Miata, time attack and track-day cars where the seat is set once for a primary driver and left alone.
The bracket is 3/16" steel, hand-welded and powder-coated black to Planted's usual standard. You will need a side-mount seat and a set of side mounts to complete the install. Planted's universal steel and aluminum side mounts are available separately in 90-degree and offset versions.
This is the driver/left side, sold individually. Verify your seat's width at the side-mount holes against the NA cabin before ordering. Professional installation is recommended, and your harness geometry should be checked once the seat is lowered.
